My Wash-Day Reset

I’ve learned that my hair does not always need more styling products — sometimes it simply needs a better wash day. When my roots feel weighed down or the lengths lose their usual softness, I prefer to simplify everything and focus on cleansing properly, then bringing back a smoother, more polished feel.
These are the products I’ve been using when I want my hair to feel noticeably fresher without turning the routine into a complicated ritual.
1. Prequel Salicylic Acid Cleanser
I was curious about the Prequel cleanser because the packaging clearly highlights salicylic acid, and I tend to reach for this kind of product when my scalp feels like it needs a more thorough reset. I use it on days when there has been more styling product, dry shampoo or general build-up than usual. What I like is that it makes the cleansing step feel more intentional rather than simply washing my hair out of habit. I concentrate it mainly around the scalp and roots, massage carefully and rinse well. Afterwards, my hair feels lighter at the base and generally cleaner without me needing to repeat the wash several times. I would not necessarily use it every single day, but it has become one of those products I appreciate having around for the moments when my usual shampoo does not feel quite enough.
2. Redken Acidic Color Gloss Duo
The Redken Acidic Color Gloss shampoo and conditioner feel like a more polished follow-up when I want my lengths to look smoother and less tired. I use the shampoo first and then leave the conditioner on long enough to make the step feel worthwhile rather than rinsing it away immediately. The combination feels especially useful when my hair looks a little flat and I want it to have a softer, more finished appearance after drying. What surprised me was how easy the pair is to work into an ordinary routine — there is no complicated technique, and I do not feel that I need several extra products afterwards. The conditioner is the part I notice most because my hair feels easier to comb through and less rough through the lengths.

I like these products for different reasons: the Prequel cleanser is my reset step, while the Redken duo is what I reach for when I want the rest of my hair to feel smoother and more put together. Together, they make wash day feel much more deliberate without making it longer or more complicated.
